APPLICATION
Professor matching
Organize education, language, research background, and application constraints.
Identify the research question, object, method, keywords, and field boundaries.
Check papers, grants, keywords, affiliations, and official pages.
Provide candidates, match reasons, risk notes, and source links.
Professor matching is not a rough filter by university or department. It checks the question, direction keywords, and methods you confirm for this run against recent public evidence: papers, grants, keywords, affiliations, and official pages.
Many students lock in a university and major but never decide what kind of professor to apply to — this «mismatch» becomes an unavoidable «wall» during outreach, while seeking informal supervisor consent, and in interviews. Define your direction first, pick a professor whose broad direction and methods are close to yours, write a proposal that fits their work — and you avoid it from the very start.
Choosing the right professor is not just about matching direction — whether you can actually reach out and get into the lab often hinges on these points. Even without the tool, run through them one by one.
Check appointment status, recruitment notes, and recent lab-page activity. A grant-runway chip such as "Grant active · 3y left" is useful context, but confirm acceptance via the official lab page.
Look beyond the discipline name — read recent papers, projects, and keywords to judge if it's the same kind of question.
Quantitative, qualitative, experimental, text-analysis, and case-study methods require different supervision.
Past work does not always mean current focus. The last three to five years matter most.
Check the graduate school, major, exam subjects, and eligibility in addition to research fit.
Language, coursework, thesis work, internships, and interests should support why this professor fits.
We combine paper titles and abstracts, grants, keywords, affiliation, and official information to surface the academic signals — what a professor truly focuses on and the methods they use — then match them against the topic, field, and method you enter here.
