Performance Analysis of an I-Shaped Slots Array Antenna for mmWave 5G Communications2025 · A microstrip patch array antenna is designed and analyzed for mmWave 5G communications. The array consists of two patch elements, each incorporating three I-shaped slots on its surface. Both the patches and the ground plane are made of lossy copper. Rogers RT/duroid 5880, a substrate with a dielectric constant of 2.2, is employed. The proposed antenna can operate in dual bands; the first band ranges from 40.9 GHz and 45.4 GHz, offering a bandwidth of 4.59 GHz, while the second band ranges from 56.6 GHz to 57.6 GHz, with a bandwidth of 0.98 GHz. Moreover, the array antenna is fed using a T-shaped feed line. The overall results, including the S11 characteristics, far-field characteristics, and VSWR, are evaluated in comparison with those obtained using the FR4 substrate and similar previous studies.
