Hokuetsu Corporation, formerly Hokuetsu Kishu Paper, is one of Japan’s major papermakers. Its defining feature is its strength in paper, particularly printing and communication paper, combined with a shift toward functional materials and applications beyond conventional paper. Its main businesses include printing paper, coated white paperboard, and pulp, with particular strength in copy paper and printing and communication paper. At the same time, it is expanding into functional paper and materials for industrial uses such as electronics, automobiles, and water treatment. It is a long-established papermaker rooted in Nagaoka, Niigata, and stands alongside major companies such as Oji Holdings and Nippon Paper Industries.
