Mandom is one of Japan's longest-established manufacturers of men's cosmetics. It was founded in 1927 as 金鶴香水 (Kintsuru Perfume), and its GATSBY and LUCIDO brands are representative names in Japan's men's hair-styling and skin-care markets. The company is also a de facto leader in men's beauty products in Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia. It is therefore not simply a niche cosmetics company focused on Japan, but a mid-sized multinational consumer-goods manufacturer headquartered in Osaka that treats emerging Asian markets as a core growth engine.
