Sharp is a long-established Japanese electronics manufacturer founded in Osaka. Since 2016, it has been acquired and controlled by Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry, also known as Foxconn or Hon Hai. Today's Sharp is both a home-appliance company known for AQUOS televisions, white goods, and Plasmacluster air-purification technology, and a Japan-based center within the Hon Hai group for display and electronic-component manufacturing and structural reform. New graduates need to understand the dual reality of a Japanese brand under Taiwan-based control.
