Graduate written-exam sources

Check written-exam sources for your target graduate school

Subjects, formats, and access to past papers vary by graduate school, program, degree level, selection type, and year. Check the recorded access status and any verified source in the Japanese university database, then confirm the material matches your application.

Verify the graduate school, degree level, selection type, and year. Use the current admissions guide for subjects, scope, and dates.

Find graduate-school past-paper sources by university

Search by university, open the school card, then review the Past exams and Admissions entries for the target graduate school. Confirm the degree level where shown; search results do not open the graduate-school section automatically.

Read the past-paper access status

The Japanese university database shows six outcomes for official-source checks by graduate school, with degree level where available. A status describes the verification outcome and access method; it does not rate exam quality or admissions difficulty.

StatusWhat was foundWhat to do next
Full onlineAn official page provides past papers or public files.Confirm the graduate school, program, degree level, and year before opening it.
Partial onlineOnly some years or subjects are public, or copyrighted portions are omitted.Separate what is available from what still needs confirmation.
Obtain via universityThe university explains how to request, collect, or purchase the material.Check eligibility, the request period, and any fee on the official page.
On-site accessThe material is viewed at the university, graduate-school office, or library.Confirm booking, opening hours, and photo or copying restrictions in advance.
Information onlyAn official admissions or access notice was found, but the exam questions are not published on the page.Check the graduate admissions page and contact the admissions office if needed.
Not foundNo unified official entry was found under the current verification process. This does not mean no past papers exist; recheck the graduate-school site or office.
Additional notes
  • Confirm the degree level for each graduate-school record.Access can differ by graduate school and degree level within one university.

Confirm that the source matches your application

A past paper is useful only when the graduate school, program, degree level, selection type, and year match. Compare the source title with the current admissions guide.

Additional notes
  • Prioritize the current official guide.Older papers reflect their own year and cannot replace current requirements.

Know what past exams can show

Past exams can show earlier question and answer formats, but they do not predict the current exam. Confirm current subjects and scope in the official guidance.

  • Organize sources by graduate school, program, degree level, selection type, year, and subject so different exams are not mixed together.
  • If official answers or scoring criteria are not public, rely on the available notice rather than inferring unpublished material.
