SGU / G30 English-Taught Master's · Get In From Abroad, Then Come to Japan
A degree-direct route where you complete the application, documents, online interview and selection entirely from abroad, then handle COE, visa and travel only after you are admitted. You enroll as a degree-seeking master's student, not a non-degree research student. Its main upside is weakening or bypassing the Japanese written exam, with no need to sit an exam in Japan; the trade-off is a narrower field and finer checking—not every famous school or English program supports overseas online selection, and you must verify English requirements, whether to contact a supervisor in advance, and score-delivery and COE timing on a per-graduate-school basis. Best suited to applicants with strong English who accept a narrower program and lab pool in exchange for finishing selection from abroad. Finishing puts you in as a full master's student, with paths onward to a doctorate or employment in Japan.
