What the English route solves — and what it doesn't
This path means: completing the application, document submission, online interview, and selection from overseas, then walking the residence and arrival procedures after admission, as a degree-seeking regular master's student — not the Japanese graduate schools' 'kenkyūsei' (research student), the non-regular status that grants neither degree nor credits. What it solves is the Japanese bar and the exam trip: the Japanese written exam can often be relaxed or bypassed, selection finishes while you are overseas, and the degree is taught in English. Its price is structural: the program pool runs narrower than the Japanese-taught master's, the lab / supervisor pool often narrower still, and the material and time chains lean harder on official fine print.
